candi’s matzo – the story of the matzo queen

i’m known as the matzo queen actually. i always have been. i have matzo in the house 365 days a year. i make matzo pizzas, matzo and turkey sandwiches, i’ve made matzo and parmesan and olives before…you name it – i just love matzo!

crazy i know, but it just works for me.

the birth of candi’s matzo happened by accident really; i'm actually a television producer. one year I had about 20 some people over for a passover seder and started experimenting with matzo. I started melting chocolate and whole bunch of yummy ingredients and pretty soon I had this chocolate bark that didn’t look so pretty but was unbelievable. that night everyone kept ouuing and ahhing and even ohhing about this chocolate matzo. it was a smash for both my jewish and non-jewish friends. I looked at everyone as was like,“really?”

so i started practicing, changing up my techniques, ingredients and was really enjoying myself.

all those who know me would say that i love to make people smile; whether it's through my laugh, bright smile, fiery red hair or on a tv set, in a production office or just hanging with my friends and family . i thought to myself, what better way to make people smile than to create these delicious and decadent chocolate matzos.

soon enough, the more people wanted, the more i made, the more i made, the more loved and enjoyed them.

so, i said to my husband, i probably won't make any money out of this, but i'll have blast doing it and more importantly, seeing everyone's smiles. 
being the loving man that he is, he gave me his full support. it might have something to do with him being a chocoholic though, but that's ok.

although the story still continues each and every day, this is how candi’s matzo came to be.

     milk chocolate crunch:

milk chocolate creamy fantasy,  milk chocolate matzo with pecans, milk chocolate matzo with walnuts, milk chocolate matzo with a mish mosh of nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts), milk chocolate matzo with toffee and nuts, milk chocolate matzo without nuts.

     dark chocolate bark:

dark chocolate matzo with pecans, dark chocolate matzo with almonds, dark chocolate matzo with walnuts, dark chocolate matzo with a mish mosh of nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts), dark chocolate matzo with toffee and nuts, dark chocolate matzo without nuts.

     mish mosh:

mish mosh is everything under the sun. assorted milk, dark, semi-sweet and bittersweet chocolate matzos with various nuts – almonds, pecans and walnuts.

     matzo brittle:

matzo brittle is a hodge podge of chocolate matzo bite sized pieces.
